On the Drying Deck

Ever since I attended a talk by Cascade Anderson Gellar in which she talked about  her counters and refrigerator tops filled with plates and racks of plant things drying, my counters have never been clean. We have a small patio home, and this leaves little counter space, but our garden is equally small so usually it doesn’t fill up too much. I just grab as I go, and save things for you-never-know-what. I know  I am not alone in this habit. On my counters drying this week:

nettle seed

dill, oatstraw

little mallow root, coriander
coriander, little mallow root

What do you have on your drying deck?

  1. Ha! My deck is flooded :)
I did just pick Marjoran & Thyme, as it is growing abundantly outside right now.

I love your photos, Latisha. What type of camera are you using? My son dropped my little camera, and it is time to invest in something more advanced…so I am gathering info/recommendations :) .

  2. thank you! eek. my babe did the same to our pocket camera. i am sooo not a photographer. i had to go grab it to check. i shoot in auto most of the time and don’t have a clue how to edit photos. i use my husband’s old camera, he’s the photog.

it’s an 8 year old cannon 20D with a 17-85mm zoom lens. he paid a ridiculous amount of money for it back then. i really love it as i have no idea what i am doing and it is very simple to use, but i think you can get so much more in a cheaper camera now. cannons seem to be quite popular.

  3. they are nice pics! this week i just have infusions, tinctures and vinegars brewing. the only thing drying is some pine needles, but when spring rolls around.. it will be another story! lol I have this crazy rigged up drying system in my den, as I have rude furbabies who would be into dry things in reachable spots. i gotta take a picture of my setup to share with you. lol xx
